On that Grind

Store Update!

I thought it would be nice to give little updates of how my store is coming along for anyone who might be interested in knowing! All I can say is WOW! It’s insane how much goes into getting a store ready! I’ve been working on it for a week so far (when I’m not working my full-time job) and so far I’ve gotten a brand new logo created, been in touch with electricians and different sign companies to find the best prices, gotten the frames of my dressing rooms built, picked out new lighting and paint, annnddd I guess that’s it. If I were to go look at the store right now it would look like I haven’t accomplished anything, but seriously I’ve been working nonstop trying to get everything lined up.

It’s crazy stressful but it’s also kind of cool learning how to do everything. I guess that’s the beauty of having a business, you don’t really have anyone to teach you or tell you what’s right or wrong so you just kind of go with it. You take each step little by little and hope for the best.

So far this current venture has taught me so many things, and here they are:

  • Make connections!–I’ve always heard how important it is to network but I didn’t really pay much attention to the idea. Here’s the thing though…it really is all about who you know! The number of talented people I’ve met in this industry has been crazy and now that I’m moving into a bigger store all of these people are coming out of the woodwork to offer a helping hand. Now I don’t know what I would do without those connections.
  • Trust Your Gut!–Sometimes I take a step back and think “holy crap, this is nuts! How am I ever going to make it?” but I shut that little voice in my head down pretty quickly. This has been a dream of mine for so long, I started small by just being online and having an office out of my home but recently I felt this need for change. Within a week of randomly deciding to look at rental spaces I ended up signing a lease. It just felt right, I stopped thinking and just did it! Now maybe this is the wrong choice, but I’ll never know until I try right? So my advice to you is to trust your gut, you know you better than anyone, you know your dreams better than anyone, and when it just feels right..it usually is.
  • Breathe and Relax!–Now I’ll admit I’m not very good at this task. I’m the type of person that puts too much on my plate then gets more and more stressed until I just completely break down. Sometimes I like being stressed, in fact I would rather be stressed than bored because stress is a huge motivator for me. But no matter how stressed you are it’s important to just stop and take a deep breath! I know that I’m so lucky to even have this opportunity and all these stresses mean that I’m doing something with my life. I’m doing my best to have more of those thankful moments as well as moments where I totally disconnect from this crazy scheme and just enjoy who I’m with and what I’m doing!

I’m sure there are more tips to share but this post is already way too long! So real quick I’ll talk about the outfit!

Bailee is wearing the Cold Shoulder Bodysuit from S & Company (that is actually on sale right now for one week only!) paired with the Baby Pink Tutu! She looks like a total princess!
